I was not...I was in the caribbean. First couple years I was in A School, then after this ship had shore duty for a bit then I got out. Should have stayed in...would have 21 years in now and prolly be a chief or first class at the least.

And collecting a retirement check and reaping the benefits of tax-free shopping (if you live near a base)

3 years of school for FREE w/E-5 Basic allowance for housing.

This can be passed along to any one of your dependents. Mine is going to my daughter when its time.
