Ill give it to you when I get home.

I posted an image of me and my platoon in Iraq but im not sure if im allowed to release the image so I took it down.
Jinkalo
I understand. You probably are because the army isn't all secret like the CIA and stuff, and the news has soldiers and stuff running around too. But I guess I wouldn't either. On the other hand, I'm fat and they would probably make me an engineer ofsome time, considering my grades and classes in physics. They wouldn't want a fatty like me slowing down the squad anyway. tongue.gif Send a clip of just you, and we'll destroy that!

Its more then just that right now Jincalo.

If you look at the news you can see how there has been a HUGE issue with the treatment (accused slaughter) of civilians by Marines in Iraq. I'm not sure if that is why Hammer doesn't want to put it up or because there's some people in the photograph that have some sort of security clearance that he wouldn't want to compromise.

So hammer...what DO (did?) you do in the Marines?

Oh, and Jincalo- there is a HUGE difference between the Army and Marine Corps.
So please for future reference don't mistake the two. I earned my title to be a Marine.

I won't punish you for your mistake. i.e. more Willow pictures.

We need a forum section just for posting personal pics.

Yea, we do. And sorry for mixing up the army and USMC. What is the difference other than that the USMC has planes and choppers?

Its okay.

The Marine Corps was first established so the Navy, during The Revolutionary War were used for the fighting ship to ship, land on coasts to take over coastal positions, be the fighters so the sailors wouldn't have to etc etc. Much of what they did during WWII. Our mission hasn't changed all that much except we rely on our own source of logistics, helo's, air power and close air support. We don't have to look to the AF guys to help us out, we have our own Mairnes in the air.

The Marine Corps invented many of today's tactics. Close air support, use of formations for infantry (Marine Raiders CO came up with it, I forget his name). We specialize in amphibious landings, we're the only service that has dedicated units to guards nuclear weapons on a sub, and guard our embassy's around the world.

We're instilled with a much greater sense of pride, es spirit de corps, honor, and responsibility.

My job right now in the Marine Corps is a Howitzer Section Chief. I'm an E-5 thats a Sergeant. If I was in the Army I'd have to be an E-7 to take charge of the same weapons system. We're given responsibility and leadership at a much lower rank compared to the Army.

Hammer. I'm breakin this down to him barney style...anything to add?

OOffff... dont ever call a Marine an Army man...

We both do our jobs and do them well and I have alot of respect for the Army but a Marine is a whole different animal as far as training goes.

My MOS is 8541. Im an E7, Gunnery Sergeant. Ive been a Marine since 1991 just in time to make a killer out of an 18 year old. Woot!

Well.. The picture was take aboard the Bataan, and the reason I thought better of it was I noticed some commissioned officers were in the backround. It was a good one though, ill try to dig up some others.

I thought Howitzer Section Chief was E6...

and you are right, responsibility and leadership comes very fast in the Marines. E1 - E3 are training status. Soon as you hit E4 your consider an NCO.

You should enlist Jincalo... cut that willow hair and get with the team.

On the gunline you'll see mostly Sgts, maybe a few Cpls if they have their shit together. Ssgts usually always are local security chiefs.

Out of 6 guns, we only have one chief thats a Ssgt.

Plt Sgt is a Ssgt, also Local Security Chief.

Amazingly no. The MEU just floated around the Persian Gulf going after Pirates of all things.

I think we only had one company go into Iraq, but that was only for 2 weeks.

We were the first "traditional" MEU since 9/11. I've really lucked out as far as not heading into Iraq. I could get all political on here but this isn't the time or place

That's what I suggested. And I wanna go to college and either sing or go into semi-conductors. I may play games, but hardcore shit like USMC? I'd die before I finished training. I'd be like Private Piles and the drill instructor would pick on me all the time cuz I'm fat! I'll stick to singing and technology.
